National VOX is one of the supporters of the free event, which takes place next weekend with Rob Mazurek and Cris Delanno concert, as well as local talent
Next weekend the 3rd Jurerê Jazz Festival will bring together local, national and foreign artists from this and other musical genres. The event will be on days 6, 7 and 8, at the Jurerê Open Shopping, in Jurerê International. The shows will be outdoors, open to the public and free, one of them for children. In addition to the musical part, the festival will have social and sustainability actions (read below).
There will be six different presentations: two on Friday, three on Saturday and one on Sunday, always in the night period (see full schedule below). There are four local groups/singers, one from Rio de Janeiro and one from Chicago (USA).
The event's creator and organizer, artistic director Abel Silva, explains that he decided to hold the festival in Jurerê and outdoors because he considers this landscape the perfect frame for a music festival. “The Jurerê Jazz Festival comes to occupy this space, and more than a jazz festival, consolidate itself as the city’s music festival,” he says.
Abel explains that the festival's great international attraction will be Rob Mazurek (Chicago – USA), an abstract music composer, improvising, painter and multimedia artist. The artist is an important piece in Chicago's vibrant music scene, playing in several groups, having his works released by various record companies. Mazurek will perform in a quartet, formed by Thomas Rohrer (rabeca, soprano sax), Guilherme Granado (electronics, keyboards and percussion) and Mauricio Takara (battery, cavaquinho), these three coming from São Paulo.
Another show that promises to attract the audience is Cris Delanno & Power Samba Jazz. The repertoire has joy as a guiding thread, in the fun arrangements, and in the mix of samba and jazz where Cris' voice values itself in the swing of the set. In addition to the classic bossa nova, jazz and rearranged pop music in the format, Cris plays his compositions and others from partners like João Donato, Joyce and Alex Moreira (Bossacucanova).
The festival also opens space for the dissemination of local talents. There will be performances by musicians/groups from Santa Catarina (or rooted) Kiabo Instrumental, Musadiversa and Cassio Moura. One of the new features of this edition is that there will be a show for the children: First Steps, First Notes.
On the eve of the beginning of the festival there will be a preview with Duo Wake up show in Si, at 6:30 pm, at Café François, at SC 401.
The 3rd Jurerê Jazz Festival is a viable event with resources from the Rouanet Law. It has the sponsorship of Komport, Tractebel Energia and Hospital Baia Sul and cultural support of Jurerê Open Shopping, Il Campanário and National Vox, realization of the Ministry of Culture, Ideas and Oca Studio, and promotion of Itapema FM.
Festival will have actions in the social and environmental areas
As this is an event that uses public resources (Lei Rouanet), the organizers made a point of promoting actions aimed at the community of the region where the festival will take place.
About 100 students from the Osmar Cunha Municipal Basic School, in Canasvieiras, will participate on days 4, 5 and 6 of a workshop for the production of musical instruments with recycled materials. The work will be directed to children aged 6-8 years and will take place from 9am to 4pm, in the hall of the school. The activity will be developed by OCA – Ong Growing with Art, Florianópolis.
Another social action will be a musical presentation to be held in Serte, in the Waterfall of the Good Jesus, an entity that houses elderly people. The event will be on Saturday at 3:00.
In the area of sustainability will be carried out by Aequo Sustainability the carbon inventory of the Jurerê Jazz Festival. Emissions from the assembly and disassembly of equipment, material transportation and displacement of professionals and musicians, as well as the consumption of electricity and all materials for disclosure and promotion of the event will be quantified.
The company will calculate the carbon emissions caused by the event and to compensate for greenhouse gases, will be planted native trees in a private reserve. The initiative will serve as a diagnostic for planning the actions of the next editions.
