According to the numbers of the e-bit, a company with information from the e-commerce founded in 1999, pioneer in conducting research on habits and e-commerce trends in Brazil, in 2011 the more than 30 million Brazilian “e-consumers” moved R$ 20 billion in real purchases made by the internet. For 2012, the prospects are even better.
In 2007, however, these numbers were much lower: 9.5 million people spent R$ 6.4 billion on web purchases, according to the e-bit. The market, however, expanded year by year and the enthusiasm was great: the security of online transactions was increasingly reliable, the number of people who had Internet access was growing and a larger portion of this group started shopping for browsers. The big question at the time was: how to conquer slices of this promising market?
The August issue of that year of the magazine “Small Businesses & Grandes Negócios”, by Globo, dealt with the subject in a two-page issue, entitled “Bet on an e-commerce website”. Among the professionals in the Brazilian internet market consulted for the production of the report was Gustavo Trentini, commercial director of National VOX – Digital Agency.
