# DigitalSpirit Mode ON

I still remember my first post-communication class in digital media marketing. From Professor Christian with the discipline of E-commerce, who decided to pause on the teachings of e-commerce, to pass a roll of string hand in hand. The idea was to form a web within the classroom, where each student presented himself and sought affinity with other colleagues, exercising in practice the so-called Network. The lesson was clear: to make and cultivate a good network of contacts, is essential to stay in an area still so new.

The challenge along the way of digital media began to unfold for the class, eager for the knowledge and learning of marketing technologies. Between a lecture and another where I met Axado (startup that compares prices between carriers and calculates freight), Google Adwords' secrets and so many other successful cases, I decided that I would seek a market space, where I could fit my knowledge in the journalism field to the future of the internet.

Breathing the air of a Posts is different from college, because you have a class every 15 days on Friday night and Saturday all day. There's no escaping from group work, from the thousand and a reading of guys like Don Tapscott, Philip Kotler, Martha Gabriel and so many other authors. Terms like Benchmark, UX, Front End, Back End, Landpage, Zmot, Mobile, Advergames become common, class after class.

Disheartened by the few vacancies and perspectives in the old media (radio, TV, printed newspaper) where I have acted in recent years, I learned that focusing on technology, especially social networks in my case, was more than a desire. It would guarantee me survival. I wasn't ashamed to ask, nor afraid to start all over again. The content that is king, had to be the passport.

Being a Heavy User on Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and other social networks, always sharing and exposing my ideas and information with the journalist experience, it just helped. Today, thanks to the recognition and indication of the course coordinator, I have earned the job I wanted in the area and am working at a Digital Media company, the National VOX – Digital Agency. I've joined the useful to the pleasant.

The path may seem long, but if you point the compass in the right direction, you can get where you want. Just have persistence, interest, humility and courage to know that investment in oneself, in the knowledge provided by a Graduate, will always be worth it.
