Have you ever heard of cyberdemocracy? I had never heard this term before, and recently reading an article by journalist Rosália Vasconcelos, I took an interest in the subject.
In short, cyberdemocracy is nothing more than a new way of making democracy: with the use of technologies. The technological tools form debates, and the interaction between government and citizens is promoted.
It is already possible to find Brazilian politicians taking the lead and using cyberdemocracy. Still in the minority, it is true, but there is a sign that politicians are, yes, seeking space in the digital world in search of a positioning.
What should the next elections be like? Will the so-called political marketing permanently migrate to the digital world and social networks?
For us, who work and follow up all this digital development, this new tool will be fundamental, because anyone who knows how to use the internet and everything it can provide for it will have a much greater chance of being in front of the electoral disputes.
Democracy, on the Internet, can not only promote information, but also – and above all – increase citizens’ participation in the democratic process.
