‘Gamification’ applied to the teaching process of students is highlighted from the new site Total Biology!

National VOX – Digital Agency was responsible for the creation and development of the new site Total Biology, with emphasis on the "gamification" applied to the learning process of students, besides every platform being responsive, that is, both the site and the study environment of students are adaptable to mobile devices (smartphones and tablets).

Walk around town and you'll see a lot of people stuck to your smartphones playing games like Game of War and Candy Crush. They're not alone. A survey shows that 59% of people play video games and, contrary to what many think, 48% of gamers are women.

But this is not a video game post, but about where innovative companies are applying the techniques that make these games so cool: in a lot of other places that are not just games.

‘Gamification' is what is called the practice of putting elements of games in business, education, health, marketing and other areas. If you look carefully, you will see ‘gamification' in various places. The basic idea is to take elements of the games, such as phases, achievements, points and rankings, and mix them with activities to be fulfilled.

Most successful cases of 'gamification' they were marketing oriented: for example, a US TV channel increased the number of subscribers putting online games to fans of the programs they display. There is also the case of a language teaching application that today has more than 60 million registered users!

Today, many companies use these tools to motivate employees or promote a healthy lifestyle, for example. That's why the new site Total Biology went after what is most innovative in teaching today. We will make our students challenge to improve during the evolution of our courses, putting game elements throughout the learning process, as a way to stimulate studies and allow students to really feel how much they are learning in that particular subject. And all that without leaving the house!

Mixing elements from the games to teaching can activate areas of our subconscious, such as the ability to solve problems, face challenges and collaborate with others. And they also end up helping students in their studies, because they give them more security when it comes to learning. After all, why not try something new when you know that even if you fail, you will have another “life & quot;?

The basic idea of 'gamefication' is motivation through rewards: you earn points, you become leader of the ranking, you take some prizes, and if you finish, you can start again. The important thing is to keep in mind that 'gation' is there to help people perform better, either studying to pass the entrance exam or to get a promotion at work. In a good game, the amount of points and their place in the ranking are not what really matters: the real prize is the journey, the achievement of the ultimate goal!

The idea is that, further forward, the 'gamification' is more often incorporated into the software we use and the content we see, just as social networks do today. The next person you see stuck to the smartphone or glass in front of the computer may be connected to the new Total BiologyStudying for the SAT and be your competition contestant... You're gonna let him take the lead and be the most evolved in his studies?
