Santa Catarina maintains its prominent position as a barn of innovative companies and, mainly, of having the best technology-based business incubators in the country. On the night of Thursday, September 20, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), the technological MIDI incubator, Florianópolis, became the winner of the category “Best incubator of companies oriented to local and sector development” of the National Award for Innovative Entrepreneurship. The distinction was granted by Anprotec – National Association of Entities Promoter of Innovative Enterprises, with the support of Sebrae, during the XXII National Seminar of Technological Parks and Business Incubators.
This is the second time that the MIDI Technological incubator, founded in 1998, receives the award. The first was in 2008. The incubator has the capacity to house up to 15 companies as residents and also offers a virtual incubation modality, by which the enterprises are not physically installed in the incubator, but receive consultancy and help to develop their business.
“ Today we have about 60 small and medium-sized graduate companies. Some have been invested. Our differential is the quality of the companies we put on the market. We are the result of a successful union between the Catarinense Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) and the Sebrae de Santa Catarina. Our graduated companies, upon leaving the incubator, continue with us, associated ", highlighted Jamile Sabatini Marques, coordinator of MIDI Tech and executive director of Acate.
An incubated MIDI Technology – the Microelectronic Chipus – was in the third place of the Prize, in the category “Best Incubated Company”. Florianópolis was also represented by the second placement of this same category through Nanovectores, Celta incubator.
The awards ceremony marked the closing of the event. In all, the National Award for Innovative Entrepreneurship 2012 received 62 applications. Winners won trophies, tickets to participate in a study or business trip and prize money – ranging from R$ 5,000 to R$ 15 thousand, depending on the category.
