O Jurerê Jazz Festival– which takes place from April 20th to May 1st, in Florianópolis – will bring the general public the opportunity to attend large shows of national and regional artists for free. The idea of the event is to democratize access to quality music that is currently produced in Brazil and Santa Catarina. Most of the performances will be at the Jurerê Open Shopping, as well as jam session at the IL Campanario Villaggio Resort.
Among the free national shows are Nuno Mindelis (SP), on the 23rd, at 20h, at the Jurerê Open Shopping. He is one of the most prestigious blues guitarists in Brazil and received the award for “Best Blues" Guitarist; by Guitar Player Magazine (USA), the World Guitar Bible, in 1998. For the performance of the Jurerê Jazz Festival, Nuno and band will emphasize songs from the latest album, Angels & Clowns, as well as themes from previous albums and some classics that can't be missed in the repertoire.
Already on the 29th, also at 20h, the free national show will be with Carlos Malta and Pife Muderno (RJ), in a high-level instrumental presentation. The group added percussion and other influences – jazz, rock, MPB and all the diversity that composes its shelves – to the sound of the fifano, which has its origins in Brazil in the indigenous adaptation to European flutes. Pife Muderno has three albums released, with the "Carlos Malta and Pife Muderno" (Rob digital, 2001), being nominated for the Latin Grammy.
The other national show that is unmissable and unpublished in Florianópolis will be the group The Ipanemas (RJ), considered the Buena Vista Social Club of Brazil, for bringing together experienced artists in shows that rescue the best of Afro Jazz, Bossa Nova, Afro Bossa and samba. The presentation will be on the 30th, at 8. In the repertoire a collection of classical sambas sung and instrumental, with emphasis on themes of Wilson das Neves with partner PC Pinheiro, Nei Lopes, Ivan Conti Mamao, Vittor Santos, etc. For the performance of the Jurerê Jazz Festival, the group will feature the special participation of carioca singer Áurea Martins.
In addition to these three national shows, there will be 11 other local artists such as Souvenir, Fernando Bailão, Rivo Trio, Moods + Emilia Carmona, No Dorso do Rinoceronte, TBZ Blues, Cristiano Ferreira, Coletivo T.AE., Ricardo Capraro Quinteto, among others. The paid shows will be with Philippe Cohen Solal (Donna), Duo Finlandia (TAC), Leny Andrade and Sambop (CIC), Marcelinho da Lua (Second) and BossaCucaNova invites Monobloco (P12).
