O Itá Consortium it is a partnership between large companies that operate throughout the national territory and aims to exploit the hydroelectric power plant, which is a Ita through concession granted by the Federal Union, through the National Electric Energy Agency – ANEEL.
Through the Public Service Concessions Act, the electric sector was opened a new opportunity to insert resources and continue works until then paralyzed.
With this incentive, in August 1995, it was formed from the union of three major companies in the energy generation sectors (ENGIE Brasil Energia), steel (National Steel Company – CSN) and cement (Itambé), the Itá Consortium.
Itá Hydroelectric Plant is located in the Uruguay River, in the border of the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, between the municipalities of Itá (SC) and Aratiba (RS) and has installed capacity of 1,450 MW, from 5 generating groups of 290 MW each.
