From next week, the first public phone that will send a wifi internet signal will start running in Florianópolis within a 50-metre radius around the device. The operator's payphone Oi will be installed in the broad of the Metropolitan Cathedral, in the Center. The intention is to have 30 scattered throughout the city by the end of 2013.
The project is the result of a partnership between the City Hall and the operator. The first prototype was presented to Mayor Dário Berger on August 16. Users from Brazil and abroad and customers from any operator can connect to the internet for free.
In the test phase of the payphones, free access will be unlimited, and the client will be registered in the portal, which will appear soon after the user connects to the Oi WiFi network.
Step-by-step for connection:
– Search for available wireless networks on a wireless device compatible with wifi technology;
– Select the “Hi WiFi” network;
– Open the browser to access the Oi WiFi registry page;
– Fill out your personal data (full name, phone, email and number);
