In the late afternoon of yesterday, after the day at National VOX – Digital Agency and before embarking on the yellowish home, I went to Plaza XV de Novembro, in the Center of Florianópolis, to test the wifi internet of the newly launched Felipe Schmidt Digital Project, initiative of the Chamber of Loggers (CDL) and the telecommunications company Globalwave Telecom.
For convenience, I decided to take the test of one of the square benches, facing the boardwalk. I took my new iPad out of my backpack and started the test. The first step was to connect to the network. - [Scoffs] The connection, apparently, was established quickly and – for the first time, as I recall – a login window was opened within the wifi settings, as if it were a Safari page (where login is usually done on other networks).
As can be seen in the photo below, there are login fields and a link to registration. I clicked and registered, filled out the necessary information – number, password, ID, phone etc. At the end of the page, there is an alert that the CPF will be your username, and there is an email to which you can write if you forget the access password. There is also the full term of use, which I did not read.
Only after I filled out the registration and logged in, the universal wifi symbol appeared in the upper left corner of the iPad. It was time to test navigation. I opened Safari and Googled it. The result was immediate.
Then I loaded the Instagram feed and posted a photo – all very fast as well. Then I opened the App Store and updated the Facebook Page Manager – the 11.3 megas were downloaded in less than 3 minutes. Twitter also updated very quickly.
To finish the test, I turned off the wifi of the device and re-connected to see if it would be necessary to log in again. It may have been a bug, but I didn't need it – the connection was reestablished immediately, and everything worked again.
Rating: excellent! Now, anyone who is in the Centre and has to access the Internet, fast and free, has two options: the entire Felipe Schmidt boardwalk, from the square to Father Rome, and the OI pay phone on the outskirts of the Metropolitan Cathedral (which also We tested it.).
