Last weekI told you here that I went to Largo da Catedral, in the Florianópolis Center, to test the wifi of the pay phone that the operator of the IO installed on the site. In short, I used a New iPad and the experience was not good. Today, I went back there with a Samsung Galaxy SII Lite – and it was quite different.
I connected to the network, opened the default mobile browser (Android system, remember) and OI mobile login registration page appeared on the screen. I filled in a username, password, and that's it. It's already connected.
I typed Globe. with and the site opened without delay. Then I did a battery of tests: upload the Instagram feed, and all right; update the Facebook timeline, and all right (despite the vagueness that is the app on Android system); update Twitter, and all right; check in on the OI pay phone on Foursquare, and all right; watch a video on the YouTube app, and all right – even the Paul McCartney DVD in Floripa, with 2:45 duration, loaded quickly. I also downloaded a game from Google’s Play Store – Fruit Ninja Free, with 18 megas – and everything is fine as well.
Result: it worked very well! Why, I don't know. But I did find some information with the IO, with the Manager of Long Distance and Public Telephony, Joao Paulo Grunert Serra:
– the OI payphone has received an average of 130 connections per day
– the payphone wifi is monitored 24 h
– when there is a problem with the signal, the monitoring center is informed on time via alert message
– in this period of testing, the maximum time of use of 15 minutes is not worth; the idea is to let people use it to, when launching other equipment around the city, OI can have a reliable benchmark
– iOS devices are the ones that have most used the pay phone network
ps. there are no images this time because Android does not have the print screen function. The photo of the login successfully I shared with my email, direct from the browser.
