Understanding Google Trends

O Google Trends is a powerful tool that provides important information about Google's volume of searches for specific topics or search terms, as well as the geographic locations where these search queries are most popular.

Although the Google Trends be precise, it does not show the amount of traffic in real numbers, but the number of queries made in relative percentages on a scale from zero to 100.

Situations where you can use Google trends:

  • Comparative keyword search
  • World issues: Politics, entertainment, nature, science, business, travel and leisure, and so on.
  • Popular surveys: the main daily surveys by countries
  • Graphics: to learn more about research of people, places and specific things in a given month

I selected a few proven tips in the market and by experts, where the Google Trends You'll work for him. Check it out:

Find new keywords your audience is looking for now

Professional keyword research tools are efficient to implement marketing strategies. They provide detailed data, guide your SEO initiatives, and help you sort it out. But let's be honest: the best platforms are expensive and sometimes confusing to use.

Although useful for content planning and optimization, the data they present are not so recent.

So a keyword with a search volume of 1,000/month sounds impressive. But that's not what's happening month by month. This same term may have 0 searches the following month and then another peak for a search volume of 800 keywords the following month.

But don't discard SEO platforms. Tools like Semrush and Ubersuggest are still useful to evaluate interest. Viewing the search volume indicates that people are searching the topic, but does not show the full story.

With Google Trends, you see the rise and fall of interest of a topic, the related research that people do and where they are located. It shows real search traffic and month-to-month changes of a keyword within a period defined by you. And you can even guess where you're going next.

It still offers clarity about the different ways people write words (based on their culture).

Enjoy content ideas that are on the rise

Using the correct Google Trends, you can make the most of the tool by searching for seasonal content ideas, where it is possible to predict which content can arouse the interest of your users in a given period.

Thus, you can prepare, for example, 2 to 3 months in advance, optimized content and ensure your indexing and visibility of the articles in organic results. This way, you can meet the needs of users and achieve a higher classification in the research mechanisms.

With Google Trends, you can see which topics are popular and will probably remain popular over time. This means that as long as you have something new to say or can provide a better feature on this topic, you are likely to have a good rating and benefit from the traffic, links and social shares that come with great content.

Get image ideas to include in the content

O Google Trends expands beyond the Google search engine results pages to find trend topics. It also extracts data from Google Images. Just change your “web search” to “image search” in the drop-down menu.

Many users click on the “images” tab on the search results to search for visual resources for content application. For example, a company looking for graphics with data. Or a consumer looking for different styles of clothing.

Enjoy adding these images to your content and not forgetting to include the search term in Alt Text.

Do the same for the video

The content has many forms, not just summarizing itself in a lot of blog posts. O Google Trends can be a hand on the wheel to find ideas of high video topics, instead of traditional keyword search for blog content.

The tool allows filtering search results between:

  • Internet search
  • News Search
  • Image Search
  • YouTube Search”

By comparing the decrease in web search interest for keywords and the contrasting increase in the search interest on YouTube for these same keywords, you can identify high-level video topics as they happen.

Google Trends is efficient to keep an eye on competition

One of my favorite tips for the Google Trends is to use the “related consultations” section to find new keyword ideas and find out what your competitors are doing, to try to advance ahead of them.

These related queries can optimize your content or campaigns using the best practices of your industry or competitors. You can even go deeper by finding the related research for related research, which deepens even further in the data.

Perform market surveys for a new product or business

Launching a new product or business is easy these days. Hard to keep it and climb. And the battle is arduous, especially when you don't understand your target market or have access to market data.

O Google Trends It's amazing to help market research by providing insights and patterns of when certain keywords are trends.

Start with broad terms, such as services and resources, to see what appears. Then restrict it to your niche or product. Keep an eye on related topics to identify trends categories and related queries to see trend search terms.

You may find that your audience uses something different to look for your product or service. Use this to create attractive content for your website and marketing material that describes your offer.

Do search for location-based trends

Keyword data from Google Trends can be used to discover areas with the greatest potential for site promotion or content customization. Using this information is an incredible opportunity to adapt your dissemination strategy and optimize involvement based on regional preferences.

With Google Trends, you can take a look at what is popular in different parts of your state or region, understanding how research behavior benefits your target audience. Explore a heat map to see where your search term is most prevalent and move your mouse over the regions to get valuable data about their popularity, including the major cities and the percentage of searches that contain the term.

With Google Trends, you can use keyword popularity data and specific geo relevance to direct content to local audiences. This, in turn, will have a major impact on the creation of content and efforts to promote a brand.

And now comes what I usually call a “golden tip”:

Update old content with high keywords

O Google Trends offers valuable insights to content creators on how they can optimize their old blog content, for example, so that it performs even better. With some simple research, you may find that your articles from years ago would have been stronger if they had presented different keywords that are now on the rise.

You can rewrite your content with the keywords and updated information that are popular with your current audience. You can also check related queries for trend keywords.

Also, you can also use the Google Trends to check low performance articles and optimize them according to Google Trends discoveries. This SEO-optimised content will help increase search traffic. Instead of writing new content and hoping it will be sorted, you can just review and let your old content have a higher rating. It is what can also be defined as “content recycling”.

Conclusion

Whether you are looking to build SEO by seeking digital authority or achieve conversions, the Google Trends offers the information to help raise your project to the next level.

Use this free tool to identify search volume trends and guide future content and messages, then monitor what works and regularly make updates to keep content up to date.
