Medium of good ideas

The subject has nothing to do with spiritism, let alone a famous TV series that bears this name. I'm talking about social media. Medium It is another internet platform, still in Beta phase, created by Ev Williams, one of the parents of Twitter and Blogger. He was born as a barn of good texts and previously selected content. This is why it is still restricted to few users, mostly writers, journalists and people who know how to tell good stories, in this fantastic world of networked knowledge. And the guests to test the social network, at least for now, they're fine in contextualization.

Not by chance, the motto of the network is “sharing ideas and experiences that move humanity forward”. All in English, the site features an interface that most resembles a blog, with cover (photo) at the top that changes as the themes are being addressed. It is not yet clear what criteria to be author of texts in Medium, but its potential seems to attract an unparalleled diversity. Another question is whether you're really going to catch it, because these closed experiences don't always focus on the goal of network, which is sharing.

One of the positive impressions I had when accessing Medium, entering the Twitter account (login with the same profile) via iPad is responsive Design, which adapts to any screen, whether by PC, Notebook, iOS or Android. This is a great advantage and should earn points with current and future users. Posts are elegantly arranged on a timeline, with the author's avatar next to the title. The other tab brings together “collections” where articles appear organized by themes such as “a good cause”, “adventures of the technological consumer” or “airport histories” among so many options. The menu has a good visual attraction.

According to Evan Williams, the social network was designed to allow people to choose the level of contribution they prefer. “We know that most people, most of the time, will just read and see content [of their friends], which is legitimate. If they want, they can indicate if something is good, giving feedback to the publisher, increasing the likelihood of others seeing the same publication.” I hope you are right, because the Medium has not yet taken off, despite the quality of the publications. Neither SEO homework, platform administrators have yet to do. A Google search by Medium does not take to the site in the first four pages. Only if you type in “Media Social Network”. Does it come out of Beta?
