Can Brazil help Mark Zuckerberg find out how to make money on mobile?

Facebook has released a set of information that has everything to do with the work of National VOX – Digital Agency and is relevant to the entire market: the Brazilian spends on average 8 hours a month on the social network created by Mark Zuckerberg – growth of 33% in a year -, more than the world average, which is 6.3 years.

The data was collected from the consulting company with Score, a market research company that provides marketing data and services to many of the largest companies on the Internet.

More valuable information: of the 54 million users registered on Facebook in Brazil, 37% use social networking on both desktop/notebook and smartphones; 15% on tablets and PCs; and 40% use Facebook while watching television.

Other data collected by comScore detail how Brazilian uses Facebook: photo sharing (82% of users); enjoy photos shared by other users (74%); read other people's status updates (73%); play (44%) and buy (40%).

To the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, the global director of Facebook audience, Robert D’onofrio, said, referring to the use of tablets and mobile phones by Brazilians: “This data surprised us, because it shows the Brazilians ahead of the rest of the world in access through different mobile devices.”

Advertising on mobile

The information set that Facebook has had access to may be important for Zuckerberg to discover how the company will solve its biggest current dilemma: making money from mobile platform ads – Facebook apps, both iOS and Android, are free of advertising.

The way to earn money on smartphones and tablets, Zuckerberg said in an interview with Forbes, published on the 11th, is the big challenge:

“The key will be how we do with mobile. A lot of stuff has changed in six months since we’ve been in the quiet period. Literally six months ago, we didn’t run a single ad on mobile. So people can underestimate how good mobile can be for us. It’s the main thing that’s fundamentally misunderstood. For one, there’s just more mobile users–5 billion people have cellphones in the world. Second, they’re spending more time on it. We’re already seeing people more likely to be daily active users on mobile. And these stats are before the new iOS app. And third, we can have better warning on mobile, make more money.”

Who knows the behavior of Brazilians on Facebook or a Brazilian company does not help Zuckerberg kill this charade?
