The Social Network Boom

I'm gonna start with the obvious and that has to do with everyone: social media. In 2023, they were not just photo sharing platforms, dances and memes, they became real business models. Instagram has gone shopping, opened up subscriptions for content creators to be monetized, TikTok has become a classroom, and LinkedIn... well, LinkedIn has become more professional than ever.

Twitter simply became “X”, by decision of its owner Elon Musk, launched plan paid with blue check stamp, unlimited space for posts that can now be in “textão” style, editing posts and even monetization for creators.

Meta, owner of Instagram, ventured into Threads, a platform that emerged to be the “new Twitter,” exploded in the release by snatching millions of users around the world in a few days, but lost space and interest a few weeks later. We even created an article about it that you can read HERE.

And there's something that's dominated all these networks? Videos! Companies realized that the crowd wants to consume content quickly and engagingly. So if you didn't do a reel or a short video (shorts) in 2023, you got left behind.

SEO: the king who continues his reign

Oh, the SEO, the king who never leaves the scene. In 2023, optimization for search engines gained even more importance. But calm down, it's not just filling your site with keywords like it's a crossword puzzle game. Google is smarter than ever.

The new thing was the search for intent. It is not enough just to have the right keywords; you need to understand what the user really seeks. Quality and relevance content were the slogans.

It is good to say that the art of ranking in the search results pages now transcends the mere choice of popular terms. It has become a delicate dance between relevance, content quality and understanding of user intentions. Google, this contemporary oracle, is not deceived by rudimentary artifices. It demands substance, coherence and improved experience for those who consult it.

Thus, the SEO saga evolves into a more complex and challenging chapter. It is not simply about visibility anymore, but about the delivery of authentic value to visitors. The content reigns as a supporting factor in the digital court, challenging creators to transcend expectations and stand out in the crowd.

In this constantly changing realm, digital strategists are called upon to develop their abilities in tune with algorithmic changes. The battle for users' attention unfolds not only in codes and tags, but in the ability to provide meaningful and lasting experiences.

Now, while keywords remain relevant, they are just pieces of a much wider board. SEO, the king who continues his reign, requires a more sophisticated approach, a strategic alliance between technique and authenticity, to thrive amid the dynamism of the online universe. Let the digital sages know how to navigate this sea of algorithms, gaining the trust of all-powerful Google and ascending to the throne of virtual success.

Chats that sell: Chatbots in action

Who knew talking to robots would become such a normal thing? Virtual attendants evolved in 2023, not only answering basic questions, but conducting real conversations. And guess what? That's really helpful in sales.

It is fascinating to observe how the boundary between human and machine is dispersed when a consumer is immersed in an interaction with an efficient chatbot. It is not just about automatic answers, but a fluid and personalized conversation experience, in which the customer feels genuinely understood and assisted. The steps of the automated consumer journey via bots, brought more productivity and efficiency to business.

This metamorphosis in chatbots had a direct impact on the sales universe. The ability to conduct authentic dialogues allowed these digital assistants to unveil the needs of consumers more accurately, present products contextually and even close businesses in real time.

The result? A palpable boost in conversion rates and customer satisfaction.

Companies have realized that a friendly chatbot can guide the customer to the completion of the purchase, offering a more personalized experience. If you don't have a chat bot on your site, then it's time to rethink that for 2024.

In fact, this trend remains one year to another. We have already talked about this in the article “Conversational marketing: chatbot as a sales strategy”.

AI did well: the domain of Artificial Intelligence in digital marketing in 2023

Imagine, those smart algorithms working behind the scenes, like digital magicians doing amazing tricks. AI not only took a chair on the discussion table, but took the pen and started writing the digital marketing script with its code handwriting.

And look, it wasn't just a special appearance, no! Artificial Intelligence has put their hand in the mass, or rather in the code, to revolutionize the game. From chatbots who seem to have taken a comedy course to predictive analyses that make the crystal ball look like a child's thing, this technology dominated by Chat GPT, Bard and Bing, among other platforms and projects, has become the magic wand that has transformed marketing strategies into true shows.

Is the trend personalization? The AI took it and did it so well that it seems we were all living in a parallel universe of custom-made campaigns. What about the recommendations? Artificial Intelligence not only recommended, but it practically anticipated our wishes before we even knew what we wanted.

In the 2023 digital marketing retrospective, if it was a film, AI would be the main star, winning the Oscar from the sharpest and most efficient strategies. If the slogan is relevant, artificial intelligence is the prom queen, making each digital interaction seem like a VIP invitation to the user experience. And if used strategically well, it brings many benefits, productivity and results to companies, especially in marketing actions. In the article How to use Artificial Intelligence to gain more reach and engagement on social networks You can get great insights!

2024: What to expect on the digital marketing horizon?

Now, looking to the future (i.e. 2024), what can we expect? Well, artificial intelligence will keep showing faces. I'm not talking about robots invading the Earth, I'm talking about smarter algorithms and even more refined personalization.

In addition, the user experience will be an expression that you will hear a lot. People don't just want to buy, they want to have a pleasant journey doing that. Quick, intuitive and visually attractive sites will be valued more than others.

And there's one more thing: augmented reality. Prepare to see more brands using AR to provide immersive experiences to consumers. Can you imagine being able to try a product virtually before you buy it? This is gonna be more common than you think.

Good practices for navigating in quiet waters in digital marketing in 2024

1. Humanize Your Mark

No matter how technological digital marketing becomes from now on or AI is present in almost everything we do, humanization is still fundamental. Show your company's face, share success stories, and make your customers feel (really) connected.

2. Stay Agile

The digital world moves fast, so you need to move faster. Be prepared to adjust your strategies based on changing trends. Don't be afraid to test and above all, innovate!

3. Prioritise User Experience

Your website will remain your company's virtual business card. Make sure it is faster and faster, easy to use and offers a pleasant experience for visitors. Integrate with other platforms such as chatbot, AI, WhatsApp and marketing and CRM tools to optimize your strategies.

4. Explore various forms of content

Videos, podcasts, infographics, articles – the content remains king (and we talk a lot about it here on the Blog), but it comes in various formats. Explore different types to reach a wider audience.

5. Collaborate with authenticity

Whether with influencers (yes, micro, nano or macro digital influencers remain fashionable) as well as business partners, prioritize authentic partnerships. Choose employees who are aligned with your brand values and who can offer a genuine connection to your audience.

Conclusion

In short, the future of digital marketing promises to be exciting, challenging and full of opportunities for those who dare to innovate and embrace ever-changing trends. We are ready for another digital journey full of discoveries and twists. And let 2024 come!
